My Approach to Therapy

I am a Registered Psychologist working with clients across Alberta, and I believe strongly that all individuals have the power to create meaningful change in their lives. Everybody can benefit from counselling — we all have something about our lives we'd like to be different, and working with someone outside of our social network can offer new insight and perspective that's genuinely hard to find elsewhere.

I work from a person-centered approach: every person brings a unique set of strengths and capacities that can be built upon. I find that the most positive outcomes come from therapy that is truly collaborative — where the client takes the lead, sets the goals, and determines the pace. My job is to walk alongside you, not in front of you.

Over the years, I've worked with children, teens, adults, and families across a range of community settings. I have a particular depth of training and experience in trauma, EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), sport and performance psychology, and complex PTSD. I also provide clinical supervision to provisional psychologists — bringing the same collaborative, strength-based lens to professional mentorship that I bring to my clinical work.

I want the people I work with to feel genuinely understood — not just assessed. If you're wondering whether I might be the right fit, I encourage you to book a free consultation. There's no commitment and no pressure. Just a conversation.

Training That Goes Beyond the Basics

In addition to my core graduate training, I've pursued extensive post-graduate certification in evidence-based trauma modalities. Here's what that means in practice for the people I work with.

EMDR Institute · Parts 1 & 2

EMDR Basic Training

Foundational certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy — the internationally recognized standard for EMDR practice.

Bilateral stimulation and trauma memory reprocessing
Standard EMDR protocol for PTSD, anxiety, and complex trauma
Phase-based treatment structure with stabilisation and processing
EMDR Specialty Training

EMDR for Sport & Performance

Specialized EMDR protocol adapted for athletes and performers — targeting performance blocks, competition anxiety, and the psychological aftermath of injury or failure.

Performance-related trauma and mental blocks
Competition anxiety and high-pressure performance contexts
Identity disruption related to injury, setback, or sport transitions
EMDR Advanced Protocols

GTEP & RTEP

Specialized training in Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (GTEP) and Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (RTEP) — EMDR adaptations designed for acute and group-based trauma response.

GTEP: EMDR delivered in a structured group format following collective trauma events
RTEP: Adapted protocol for trauma that has occurred within the past three months
Particularly relevant for first responders, veterans, and disaster-affected populations
Rosenberg Institute · ART

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Certification in ART — a brief, evidence-based therapy that uses voluntary image replacement and eye movements to rapidly reduce the distress of traumatic memories.

Trauma, PTSD, phobias, and anxiety in as few as 1–5 sessions
Client-directed imagery replacement — no need to verbalize trauma details
Recognized by the VA and recommended for first responder trauma
Oakland University

Animal-Assisted Therapy Certification (CAATP)

Formal academic certification in Animal-Assisted Therapy from Oakland University — one of the leading AAT training programs in North America.

Evidence-based integration of animals into therapeutic intervention
Goal-directed sessions incorporating trained therapy animals
Particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and children/teens who find traditional talk therapy challenging
Nutrition & Mental Health · Post-Graduate Training

Nutritional & Integrative Medicine for Mental Health

Post-graduate training spanning the relationship between nutrition and mental health — from the gut-brain connection to integrative medicine principles — bridging conventional psychology with evidence-based nutritional psychiatry.

Nutrition and Mood: how diet, deficiencies, and gut-brain axis influence mood, cognition, and emotional regulation
Nutritional & Integrative Medicine for Mental Health Professionals: functional and integrative approaches to anxiety, depression, and mood disorders
Micronutrient research, nutritional psychiatry, and whole-person collaborative care
