A Note from Kayitesi…
I believe that when individuals lose their sense of agency and purpose, they can experience mental health challenges that significantly impact daily functioning. My goal in therapy is to help clients find meaning in their experiences, whether those involve adversity, trauma, or life transitions. This way, clients can begin to heal and move toward growth and self-empowerment. Therapy with me is a culturally inclusive and non-judgmental space where clients are the expert on their own life. I take a position of curiosity and deep respect, working to understand their world from their perspective so that I can ultimately support them in reclaiming their voice, agency, and sense of purpose.
I have a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology (Applied Emphasis) from Concordia University of Edmonton, and I'm in the process of obtaining my Masters of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle. I have worked in the capacity of customer service and coordinating client care in the counselling field for 4+ years, completed various practicum placements, and I have also worked to promote the development of children's social skills through my work at a non-profit organization.
In my spare time I love to take walks in the river valley, read, watch movies, and hang out with my pet Leo :)
