A Note from Becky

My Approach to Therapy

I believe that life can be really hard sometimes, no matter what age or stage of the journey we are at. When we are left to find our way through these hard moments alone, we can lose direction, feel stuck, and fear it will never get better. As a therapist, I aim to provide my clients with a safe space to share what they have been through, and where they would like to go — it's through this relationship my clients feel seen and connected, and this is where change happens.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked primarily in public systems with children, teens, and families who were experiencing social emotional challenges that were keeping them from reaching their goals. This included working in the school system as both a behaviour specialist and a family school liaison worker, as well as in government programming as a family coach. Through such positions, I have become trained in a number of attachment-based behaviour programs such as Circle of Security, Triple P, and Positive Discipline. I now find myself as a Registered Psychologist in the Province of Alberta after completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Over the last three years I have worked with children, teens, adults, and families in a psychology role, and have added specific training in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Play Therapy to my skillset.

"All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we're giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That's one of the things that connects us as neighbors — in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver."

— Mr. Rogers
