My Approach to Therapy
Hi there! My name is Jaclyn (She/Her), and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I graduated from City University of Seattle with a master's degree in Counselling Psychology in 2021.
I enjoy working with individuals and couples of all faiths and cultural backgrounds and those who are part of the LGBTQ2S+ community. My particular area of interest is couples counselling and sex therapy. I believe our intimate relationships and sexuality are important factors to our health and well-being and I am passionate about creating a safe space for curiosity, exploration and discovery in these areas. This may include relationship issues, boundaries and communication, low sexual desire/drive, sexual pain, orgasm difficulties, erectile dysfunction, sexual self-esteem and confidence.
Other areas I provide counselling in include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, stress, and emotional regulation. I have completed additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Gottman Couples Counseling Level 1 and 2. Currently I am completing training to become a Certified Sex Therapist. In my practice I also integrate interventions from ACT, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychoeducation, Mindfulness-based Therapy, and Sex Therapy.
